Flourishing Leadership Institute (FLI) is an innovative consultancy that utilizes the latest research in Appreciative Inquiry, Design Thinking, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness to design and facilitate high purpose, large group collaborations.

To advance the large group Summit methodology through a team that is best in the world at facilitating and producing large-scale summits. With David Cooperrider's collaboration, we have made great strides in bringing together a global team that is delivering highly innovative large group AI summits. 

To enable Appreciative Inquiry to become an “operating system” for leaders, teams and organizations… the same way Microsoft became the OS for the personal computer. We have been prototyping variations of this, with some very exciting outcomes through current clients.

Jon Berghoff

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Under Jon's leadership, the FLI team has designed and facilitated whole-system change efforts, through large group collaborative summits for organizations that include Fathom, Boing Corporation, Vitamix Corporation, Fortec Medical, and Fairmount Minerals. Jon previously served as the head of sales for the direct sales team at Vitamix Corporation, where revenue grew by 400% in less than 4 years, as their team grew from 175 to over 600 members. His work in Appreciative Leadership, Emotionally Intelligent Negotiatins, and Influence has brought him to Australia, Japan, the UK, and South America. Jon is in high demand, known for his authenticity and highly engaging style of creating powerful learning experiences for participants.

Jeff Hoffman

Strategic Advisor

Jeff is a successful entrepreneur, keynote speaker, proven CEO, and featured business expert. Widely known for co-founding Priceline.com, Jeff has successfully launched multiple startups and currently services on the boards of companies around the world. He supports the White House, State Department, and UN in economic growth intitiatives and entrepreneurhsip programs. Jeff received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the national CEO council for his contributions to the field of entrepreneurhsip, among many other awards.
 

Dr. David Cooperrider

Strategic Advisor

David is the Fairmount Minerals Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. He has taught and lectured at Harvard, Stanford, and University of Chicago, among other highly acclaimed schools. David is best known for co-creating Appreciative Inquiry (AI), which has sparked a revolution of positive change, innovation, and sustainable design in large-scale business models. In addition to being a consultant to a variety of organizations, David designs and facilitates AI Summits for organizations around the world, including the United Nations. In addition to these achievements, David has published fifteen books.

Scot Lowry

Strategic Advisor

Scot is the CEO of Fathom, a digital marketing and analytics agency based in Cleveland, since 2007. Prior to Fathom, Scot held leadership positions with complex service organizations in real-estate development, finance, sports and recreation facilities, and health care information technology. Scot studied Finance and Entrepreneurship, earning degrees from the University of Florida (BS) and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (MBA). Scot is on the boards of Promise Partners Entrepreneurhsip Incubator, BVU's Center for Non-Profit Excellence, Engage!Cleveland Young Professional Catalyst, and The Congregation of St. Joseph's River's Edge Center for Reflection and Action. Scot is passionate about creating scalable, purpose-rich cultures that encourage people and organizations to reach for their full potential, capture their dreams, and make positive contributions in the world.

Jackie Stavros is Professor at Lawrence Technological University’s College of Management. She integrates strengths-based, whole system concepts such as Appreciative Inquiry (AI) and SOAR (www.soar-strategy.com ) into her research, teaching, training, and consulting. She has co-authored six books, 20 book chapters, and 30 articles in AI, SOAR, and organization development. Her co-authored books include: Practicing Organization Development: A Guide for Leading Transformation and Change, Fourth Edition, Thin Book of SOAR: Building Strengths-Based Strategy, The First Appreciative Inquiry Handbook: for Leaders of Change and Dynamic Relationships: Unleashing the Power of Appreciative Inquiry in Daily Living. She has presented her research and work in over 20 countries.

Jackie Kelm

Senior Appreciative Inquiry Strategist

Jackie Kelm has been consulting with Appreciative Inquiry (AI) since 1995, and her work has been embraced by organizations such as Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, The Duke Integrative Medical Center, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Jackie is passionate about helping organizations create hi-engagement cultures that foster creativity and innovation, and that bring out the best in individual and team performance to meet strategically important goals. Jackie has been published in several magazines and books and been a guest on a variety of radio shows. 

Carey Smolensky

AI Summit & Event Production Director

Carey Smolensky, President of Carey Smolensky Productions, is a dynamic businessman, multi-faceted entertainer, and entrepreneur who was born in Chicago and began his family of companies while in high school. Carey served as President of the Chicago Chapter of International Special Events Society (1993-1995) and is a founding board member of Front Row Foundation. In addition to his companies, Carey is a respected motivational speaker, voice over artist, author, recording artist, and actor. Carey earned the "Lifetime Achievement Award" - EEA Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards and the Gala award for "Best Entertainment Concept" - Special Events Magazine, in addition to a variety of other awards.

Brandon Koenig

Brandon started his hospitality career in 1988 with the Chicago Hilton & Towers.  He spent the next ten years with three different hotels holding Executive Committee positions with his concentration in operations. In May of 1998 Brandon founded Meeting Solutions, a full service meeting management firm where he continues to thrive today. Brandon brings a wealth of experience to the Flourishing Leadership Institute team. His expertise is finding and securing meeting facilities such as hotels, conference centers & unique venues. Brandon leverages over 100 meetings a year and his many years of experience to obtain the very best arrangements including rates and favorable contract clauses for his clients.     

Betsy Crouch & Zoe Galvez

Improvisation Coaches

ImprovHQ Co-Founders, Zoe Galvez and Betsy Crouch combined their extensive experience in the business and theater worlds to develop the ImprovHQ principles ofr peak performance, leadership, and dynamic collaboration. As speakers and consultants, they deliver experiential keynotes and programs which inspire engagement and lasting cultural change. Clients include Twitter, Google, and LinkedIn. Zoe has dedicated her entire career to coaching, performing, and introducing thousands to the magic of improv. She is a longtime member of professional acting guilds liks SAGE nad AFTTRA, as well as a Main Stage company member of the nationally-acclaimed BATS Improv in San Francisco. Betsy is an experienced entrepreneur and coach with 10 years of experience inspiring peak performance through sales management, coaching, and consulting, before coming an improviser and founding ImprovHQ. ImprovHQ is passionate about helping individuals and organizations collaborate effectively and thrive.

Julianna Raye

Unified Mindfulness Coach

Julianna Raye has been training individuals and groups in mindfulness practice for over 15 years. In addition to mindfulness training, Julianna is a keynote speaker and private coach, helping others to achieve personal and professional growth through mindfulness. Additionally, Julianna offers group training for company leaders interested in preventative healthcare and enhancing their work environments with mindfulness. With over 90 weeks of immersive silent retreat training in both mindfulness and Zen, in addition to her daily practice, Julianna has 12,000+ hours of formal practice time, rewiring her brain, and creating a new normal for herself. This enables her to truly be of service to her clients. In a recent study at UCLA comparing long-term meditators' brains with non-meditators, the results of Julianna's MRI led to interviews on ABC, Globo and Reuters news outlets, about the benefits of Mindfulness practice.

Brotha James is a solo performenr who does live looping, which is the layering of sounds through hte magic of technology to create a full band effect. He uses his music to inspire others and bring an energy to the room that quickly helps people feel more connected and excited. Brotha James' positive energy is contagious and his enthusiasm for creating, playing, and performing helps him engage audiences of all ages,infusing hs performances with gratitude, positivity, and enlightement.

Trent spent the first half of his young career as a financial advisor with one of the most successful firms in the country. He then went on to start a company that created a platform for local artisans to sell their goods. He brings a diverse skill-set of business and technology in one package to the FLI team. Trent graduated from Miami University where he studied finance and economics.

Laura MacMinn

Events Coordinator

Laura called Raleigh, NC home before arriving in Cleveland to be a part of the FLI team. Laura graduated from Appalachian Sate University’s Walker College of Business with a focus on International Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. In 2011, Laura joined the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour as their Director of Events. The tour visited 600+ colleges/organizations with aspirations of spreading the entrepreneurial mindset to youth and introducing entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Laura is passionate about connecting and creating positive community.
